New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP)

Teacher Support Materials for Grade Level Expectations
New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont

This CD provides teachers in New Hampshire, Rhode Island and Vermont with support materials for using grade level expectations (GLEs)* in the classroom. The GLEs can guide teachers in order to better understand what material students can expect to see on the NECAP state assessment. Please remember that the GLEs are not a full curriculum – each state also has grade level expectations that are assessed at the local level, and teachers must be sure that the curriculum they use covers all areas.

The materials were produced in partnership with the New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont Departments of Education, Education Development Center, Inc., and the Center for Assessment. Permission to photocopy is granted for use in individual classrooms and professional development settings.

You can find more information about the New England Compact, as well as updates to these materials, on the New England Compact website (www.necompact.org).

We hope that the materials prove helpful to you in the classroom and in your work with students. Please send comments and suggestions to Caroline Parker (cparker@edc.org).

* Grade-Level Expectations are called Grade-Expectations (GEs) in Vermont.
