Peer Leadership 2006
The leadership team this year is advised by Mr Synodi. The peer leadership team is made up of a group of students that are empowered to help make this school a better, more positive place to be. The students will be involved in activities where they will serve as ambassadors for DMS. Most importantly, as a member of the peer leadership team, they will realize the impact that students can make on other students. The main focus of this group is to work on bullying prevention activities. Recently the group met for an all day orientation to the program. One of the first activities we did was an activity called "Frame the Bully". In this activity, we made posters and wrote what we thought a bully would be; for example a word we could write on one of these would be hurtful. We also spent a lunch together in the Common Learning Room and tried to think of ways we could feel more comfortable with the group. Additional information about bullying is available on the guidance page on our school web site. Click here to view that information.
No Name Calling Day January 27, 2006
The Climate Team and Peer Leadership Team are asking advisories to create a No Name Calling poster as part of our No Name Calling Day on Friday January 27th. The poster could be words that would not use or symbols to remind one not to use names or something I have not thought of that symbolizes no name calling. There might be prizes for the advisory or advisories with the best poster. Members of the PLT will be coming to your advisory to talk to you about the conteThey will be displayed in the cafeteria during lunch on Friday January 27,2005. Students and staff will vote for their favorite poster Friday or the following Monday January 30th. We look forward to seeing a of great posters. Good Luck!!
