Pennies for Patients

The Davisville Middle School Student Council recently concluded a campaign to raise funds for the Lukemia and Lymphoma society. This is the fifth year that DMS has participated in this fund-raising effort and it was by far the most successful. Thanks to the generosity of the students and staff $3230 was raised for this very worthwhile cause. This is part of a national campaign and is designed specifically to allow students to contribute. Click here for additional information on the national campaign. The campaign began on March and continued until March. Students could contribute during homeroom and lunch. To add a competitive edge to the giving campaign, a contest was held to guess the amount of money in a glass jar. Guess raffle tickets were sold for $.50 each; the student who came closest to guessing the amount was given a $50.00 gift certificate to Strawberries. Another giving incentive was a pizza party awarded to the homerooms which contributed the most; the winning homerooms were 105, S-1 and 203.
