            All students at NKHS  will be maintaining a digital portfolio as part of the graduation by proficiency requirement. Beginning with the spring 2006 semester, students will be completing and entering an anchor assignment as well as a reflective essay from each class. In addition sophomores will enter their History Day project and research paper and freshman will enter their Science Fair lab report and reflective essay.  This work must be entered into each student's portfolio folder before the end of the school year.

In the fall there will be a permanent repository for portfolio work. For now it will be kept in a portfolio folder in each student's H drive.  Directions on how to create and save to this location are found below.

Step 1: In your H drive create a new folder called “portfolio”.

      Go to “my computer” and then the drive which is called “your name on NKSD_Student on nksd-filesrv\studentdata\2008 or2009”. From file choose new and then folder and name it Portfolio

Step 2: Copy or Save your work to your portfolio folder

      If the work is on the school computer network, simply copy the document and paste it into the portfolio folder.

      If the work is on your home computer, email it to yourself as an attachment at your nksd address (first name_last name @students.nksd.net). If you are using a word processing program other than Microsoft word, please save your document as rtf (rich text format) before sending it to yourself.

      Open your email at school and save the document to the portfolio folder in your H drive. To save the file right click on the attachment icon, choose save as…, navigate to the portfolio folder and save the document there.

A listing of the anchor assignments must be completed and returned to the ePortfolio coordinator before the end of the school year. Students have been given a template on which to enter this information. If another is needed it may be downloaded from the link below. An electronic copy of the reflection piece is also located below.
