ADOBE PAGEMAKER
Tutorial 2
Using PageMaker to Layout a Business Card.
1. The proper size of a business card is 2x3.5 but if you set your paper to this dimension you'd have a lot of cutting to do. Set your document to 8.5 x 11 with a .25 border on each side.
2. To evenly divide your page into the proper size, select the ruler zeroing point in the upper left corner, click on this point and drag on to your page. place this point on top of the upper left corner of your page on top of the margin guides, be sure to place it exactly on the horizontal and vertical lines of your page. From the horizontal side pull a guide out and set it at 2 inches and now pull a guide from the top setting it at 3.5 inches. Repeat this until you have 12 equal rectangles.
3. Design a card for
Cajun Catering
123 A Street,
Centerville, WA. 01234
www. Cajun food. org
4. To easily do this design your card within one of the smaller rectangles, use
clip-art, geometric shapes , color, lines or reverse type to express your
message.
5. Once you have completed your design, click and drag your cursor over your entire design, selecting it all. once you have done this select from the element menu the group option.
6. With the artwork still selected copy it by either selecting copy from the edit menu or CTRL C to copy your selection. Once it has been copied now you need to paste it into each of the small boxes. You could hit paste and then place each one but the easier way to do this is to select from the edit menu MULTIPLE PASTE, first we will paste in the horizontal units. With the multiple paste window open we will paste 2 copies with a horizontal offset of 3.5 inches and a vertical offset zero. Once this is done group the 3 horizontal pieces together and now repeat this to place the other units. ( HINT WORK WITH THE VERTICAL AND REMEMBER THE HEIGHT OF THE CARD).
