Stony Lane School Mission Statement
Our mission (under the guidance of the North Kingstown
School Department philosophy, goals, and objectives) is to serve the Stony
Lane students and to foster their ability to develop as wholesome contributors
to our community, the world, and most significantly to themselves.
In
the striving of our mission we acknowledge that:
- The interaction
between teacher and student is the most important interaction in the
school system.
- The student
voice is crucial in shaping his/her self-reliance, responsibility, and
self-image.
- Schools
must be safe, nurturing environments where respect is shared by all
members of the school community (students, parents, teachers, administrators,
supporters).
- Schools
are most productive when teachers understand the school system's mission
and participate in developing goals and programs for their students.
- The school
community must create and strengthen the school's effectiveness by understanding
its goals and participating in efforts to ensure student success.
- The student
must value learning and develop an understanding of how learning relates
to their future.
- Parents
must be involved in shaping and promoting their children's motivation,
confidence, and academic endeavor for them to be successful.
- Academic,
aesthetic, social, physical, economic, and personal goals are important
and must be given every opportunity to be expressed and accomplished.
