Katrina fundraiser | Red Ribbon Week | Computer Class
Tsunami relief | Recognition Wall | Read across America | New Students | Grade 6 Orientation
The WMS Leadership Team has serviced Wickford Middle School throughout this year . Below are some of the new initiatives
The students are working on a student recognition wall. There are ballots students fill out to nominate their peers. Each homeroom will have a ballot box (shoebox). On the 3rd Thursday of each month the leadership representative will collect the ballots and the recognition committee will tally the ballots.Students will be nominated for things we may not know about. This will recognize those students that may not be in the limelight on a daily basis but they may be doing some wonderful things either within or outside of this building.
The students will be participating in the Read Across America celebration at the Warwick Mall on Saturday, March 4, 2006. Our task will be to have the leadership students run a booth. Their responsibility will be to read to younger children throughout the day (10:30am to 5:30pm). The students are very excited. If any teacher or staff member would like to help the students by lending an hour of their day on Sat. it would be greatly appreciated. Let us know. Thank you. We are trying to break up the time so it does not seem like a chore but rather a fun day of sharing with young children.
The New Student Committee is working to create a welcome folder for new students. They are ironing out what should be included. If anyone has recommendations of what they would like to see inside, please forward the info to members of the leadership committee or the advisors.
