Red Ribbon Week

October 23-31

WMS Celebrates Red Ribbon Week
Here's How

Monday: Distribute red ribbons to students in homerooms; have leadership member read the background to red ribbon week in each homeroom

Tuesday: Construction paper chain. Students will sign name to construction paper in a pledge to stay alcohol and drug free.  Paper handed out, signed and collected in homerooms by student leaders. Chain will be put together and hung Tuesday afternoon during Leadership Council. Need to talk to Mr. Merkel to confirm.

Wednesday: Each teacher will be given a handful of dum dum lollipops. If they catch a person wearing their red ribbon that was given to them in their homeroom on Monday, the student gets a lolly.  Theme—“Don’t be a “dummy. Lick the habit and stay away from drugs and alcohol!”

Thursday: Hand out Red Ribbon Week stickers in homerooms (Leadership reps again, will handle everything. Please give them the opportunity to do it in Homeroom.)

Friday: Wear red day (creative and crazy). Candy jar contest during each of the three lunch periods.

Themes:

  • Be smart, stay off drugs!  (Smarties candies)
  • Don’t get twisted, stay away from drugs.  (Twizzlers candies)
  • Be a “roll” model, stay away from drugs.  (Tootsie rolls)

Facts of the day read each day during morning announcements.
