Friends,
I'm pleased to report
that Stony Lane Elementary School is being nominated by
Commissioner Gist and the Rhode Island Department of
Education to be a Blue Ribbon School in recognition of
outstanding achievement and growth.
The National Blue
Ribbon Schools Program recognizes public and private
elementary, middle, and high schools where students
perform at very high levels or where significant
improvements are being made in students' levels of
academic achievement. Since 1982, the U.S. Department of
Education's National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has
honored America's most successful public and private
elementary, middle, and high schools. A National Blue
Ribbon Schools flag waving overhead has become a
trademark of excellence, a symbol of quality recognized
by everyone from parents to policy-makers in thousands
of communities.
We will know more about
an actual award in the spring, but clearly, a Blue
Ribbon nomination is a major achievement for any school
or district. Congratulations to Principal Ferrario and
the faculty, staff, and students at Stony Lane on this
prestigious nomination! Thank you for your efforts and
for giving us one more reason to be proud of the great
work happening in the North Kingstown School Department.
Regards,
Dr. Phil
Auger
Superintendent of Schools
