The state of Rhode Island has used the PARCC assessment for three years. This past year, Rhode Island transitioned to new state assessments:
The Rhode Island Comprehensive Assessment System (RICAS) is now used for grades 3-8. This test is based on the Massachusetts state assessment and is closely aligned to the CCSS.
The PSAT™10 and SAT® School Day for high school students will be administered during the school day and will serve as the state assessment for that level.
The state is also using the new Dynamic Learning Maps (DLM) Alternate Assessment, ELA and math at grades 3-8 & 11 and science at grades 5, 8, & 11.
There is also a new Next Generation science assessment for grades 5, 8, & 11.
