The preschool Program participates in Bright Stars, Rhode Island's tiered Quality Rating And Improvement system.
Bright Stars Standard 7: The program uses a curriculum or curriculum framework, aligned to the RI Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS), for all age groups served. Teaching staff have emotional connections with children and respond appropriately to individual early learning and development needs.
The Preschool Program utilizes a variety of research-based curricula to plan and implement developmentally appropriate daily lessons that support all areas of early childhood development. These include:
Cognitive ToyBox Classroom Data Collection System: Tool used to assess and guide instruction based on individual developmental progress.
Al’s Pals: A comprehensive social-emotional learning curriculum that promotes positive behavior, emotional regulation, and healthy decision-making.
PreK Fundations: A multisensory, systematic program that supports early literacy through phonics, spelling, and handwriting instruction.
The Creative Curriculum: A play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum that fosters exploration, discovery, and learning across all domains.
Classroom Schedules and Routines
Classroom schedules and routines are carefully designed to maximize time spent on meaningful early learning and developmental activities. The program offers a variety of opportunities for children to build and practice skills across all domains outlined in the Rhode Island Early Learning and Development Standards (RIELDS).
Each classroom teacher will create a daily schedule tailored to their students' needs, which will be shared with families at the beginning of the school year. Families will be notified of any updates or changes to the schedule as they occur.
