2-1-1 is the statewide resource center for information and referrals, and it comes with the support and expertise of a national network of referral experts.

North Kingstown Department of Social and Human Resources

The Social and Human Services Department, located at the Senior Center, can address the social and human service needs of all North Kingstown residents, regardless of age.

Tri-County Community Action

Located at 415 Tower Hill Road, Tri-County Community Action seeks to provide accessible, quality, and comprehensive social, educational, health, prevention, and other services to people in need.  

Family Care Community Partnership Program

Run by Tri-County Community Action for residents of Washington and Kent County, this programs works to support families by connecting them with local services and community programs.  Call 866-840-6532.

Nutrition Assistance

Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)
The SNAP Program, formerly known as Food Stamps, helps individuals and families buy food. If you are struggling financially to buy food and provide nutritious meals, you may be eligible for SNAP. 

North Kingstown Food Pantry

Provides emergency food assistance and services to individuals and families in North Kingstown to help with short-term needs.

Housing Related

Rhode Island Housing Authority

Offers fair, affordable and innovative lending programs, Provides housing related education to consumers and others. Promotes  and finances sensible development that builds healthy, vibrant communities Provides housing grants and subsidies to Rhode Islanders with the greatest need.  

Housing Choice/Section 8

Families can apply for this federal program which provides housing assistance in the form of a "voucher" so tenants can find a home that fits their needs.  Tenants required to pay 30-40% of their gross household incomes in rent and utilities. Must apply online through the Centralized Wait List.

Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)

Helps income eligible families pay their heating bills. HEAP is a grant. You are not required to repay it.

Family Shelters
Family Shelters across the state of Rhode Island are managed through a single Coordinated Entry System.  If your family needs immediate shelter, call 401-277-4316.

Rhode Island Works, RI’s Temporary Assistance to Needy Families program, offers temporary cash assistance, child care assistance, and help finding job training or a job.

Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)
Supports low-income working families by providing access to affordable, high-quality early care and afterschool programs.


WellOne Community Health Center
Dental, behavioral health, and primary care services available on a sliding scale for all family members.  Located in North  Kingstown at 308 Callahan Road.


Rhode Island Public Transit
Provides affordable transportation throughout the state.


Threads of Good News Clothing Ministry
Managed by the Quidnessett Baptist Church, located at 6456 Post Road in North Kingstown.  Provides slightly used clothing
for infants, children, and adults in the community, free of charge. All are welcome.  Open Tuesday - Friday, 10:00-2:00.

The Sharing Locker

Managed by the Westminster Unitarian Church in East Greenwich, The Sharing Locker provides non-food and pet products for people in need.  Open the third Saturday of every month from

10:00-1:00.  All are welcome.

Furniture Connection

Run through the Christ Church in East Greenwich, the Furniture Connection accepts and distributes used furniture in good condition.
