North Kingstown High School has been recognized as a National Special Olympics Unified Champion School, earning the prestigious National Banner for its outstanding commitment to inclusion, belonging, and student leadership.
This national recognition is awarded to schools that meet 10 National Standards of Excellence across three core areas: Unified Sports, Inclusive Youth Leadership, and Whole-School Engagement.
A national panel of leaders from Special Olympics and the education community reviewed NKHS’s work and determined the school is a model for inclusive practices.
The staff and student body of North Kingstown High School, the North Kingstown School Committee and leadership, local dignitaries, and members of Special Olympics Rhode Island and Special Olympics North America attended the ceremony.
The National Banner recognizes a sustained culture of inclusion, and NKHS staff and students have demonstrated their commitment to upholding these standards.
