MLL Family Resources

SOL PAC

The Speakers of Other Languages Parent Advisory Committee is a parent-teacher group that meets quarterly to discuss topics of interest to parents of MLL students and to foster parental involvement. If you are interested in getting involved, please contact your child's MLL Specialist.

International Picnic

Since 1986, this annual event has been a district-wide culminating activity for all current and former MLL students and their families. The picnic is typically held on the Friday before Memorial Day. Hot dogs, lemonade, and delicious foods from countries across the world are shared by all in celebration of the conclusion of each successful school year.

ACCESS Assessment

ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is a secure large-scale English language proficiency assessment administered to Kindergarten through 12th-grade students who have been identified as multilingual learners (MLLs). It is given annually in WIDA Consortium member states (including Rhode Island) to monitor students' progress in acquiring academic English. The test is aligned with the WIDA English Language Development Standards and assesses each of the four language domains of Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing.
